UK-Based African Leadership Magazine nominates REG Chief Executive Officer, Jean Bosco Mugiraneza, the Africa CEO of the Year

The African Leadership Magazine, a publication of the African Leadership (UK) Limited has named Jean Bosco Mugiraneza as the African Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Year. In a correspondence addressed to the Rwanda Energy Group (REG) on 6th March 2017, the Magazine has underlined that the nomination of Jean Bosco Mugiraneza is in line with the magazine’s commitment to promote and celebrate good corporate governance, unrivalled ethical practices and impact achievements in the continent’s energy and infrastructure sectors.

The conferment of the award will take place during the forthcoming Africa Energy & Infrastructure summit  to be held on the 7th April 2017 in London UK. The correspondence states that the nomination of Jean Bosco Mugiraneza, is a recognition of his enormous contribution and impact towards the growth and development of Africa’s energy sector.

 “…as recipient of the Africa CEO of the Year Award, your choice for this important honor is in recognition of your outstanding posturing as one of Africa’s most outstanding CEOs and development thought leaders. This prestigious honor shall be conferred on you in the presence of friends, well-wishers, the international media and other notable African leaders and stakeholders”, states the correspondence.

Recent recipients of the African Leadership Award include, H.E. Hifikepunye Pohamba, former President of Namibia, H.E. Jakaya Kikwete, former President of Tanzania; H.E. Dr Ernest Bai Koroma, President of Sierra Leone; H.E. President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, President of the Republic of Liberia; H.E. John Kufour, former President of Ghana; and, Dr Mo Ibrahim, Founder Ibrahim Prize for Leadership; Hon. Xavier Luc-Duval, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Republic of Mauritius; Mr. Mohammed Dewji, CEO MeTL Group, Tanazania, etc.

Rwanda Energy Group Limited (REG) is known regionally for the top level overall performance, last year the company receive ”East Africa’s Most Impactful Energy Development Corporation of the Year Award, during the Africa Energy Awards on the 24th of June2016 by the same magazine.

The CEO dedicates this nomination to the Board of Directors and staff of the Rwanda Energy Group Limited.

Rwanda Energy Group (REG) is set to commence the development of HUZA an Integrated Business Management System that will transform how the energy Group serves its customers and improve operational efficiency.

HUZA an integrated solution that includes modern management tools and processes to inform decision-making and enhance efficiency, transparency and accountability in electricity service delivery. The HUZA System will consist of an enterprise resource planning (ERP), customer management system (CMS), and incident record management system (IRMS) all integrated together. 

The System will improve the operational performance and enhance corporate governance of Rwanda Energy Group (REG) to realize efficiency in the management of its customers and corporate resources. For that purpose, HUZA is supported by state-of-art management information systems with new operational procedures for a more customer-oriented approach in the execution of activities.

The development process will take about 18 months and will be implemented by a Consortium of; Applications Software IFS Pty and Fluentgrid Limited. These firms will supply install, re-engineer processes and train REG staff in the use and maintenance of a package of integrated solutions to deliver to the expectations of the Company and its Stakeholders.

This was revealed during a Kick-Off Ceremony held at the KIGALI SERENA HOTEL, on TUESDAY NOVEMBER 08, 2016 presided over by the Minister of Infrastructure, Hon James Musoni.

Energy and related Utilities services are a key driver of investment and social welfare in the economy. REG has  two subsidiaries, the Energy Utility Corporation Limited (EUCL), whose mandate is to operate the energy infrastructure and delivering utility services to the public. On the other hand the Energy Development Corporation Limited (EDCL) being focused on planning and developing energy projects. The Group is at the fore front of expanding the performance of the sector to cover all areas of the country.

Kigali, 31st October, 2016- An impressive list of experts from the energy sector will address iPAD Rwanda taking place from 1-2 November in Kigali, Rwanda. The forum will gather investors, project developers, finance houses, construction and planning companies, technology providers from Rwanda, the region and from the rest of the world as well as high-level government representatives.

The Rwandan Minister of Infrastructure, the Honorable Mr James Musoni, will once again deliver the welcome address during the opening session and officially launch the SE4ALL Action Agenda in Rwanda.

 The third edition of the event continues to enjoy strong, official support from the state power utility REG, the Rwandan Ministry of Infrastructure as well as the Rwandan Development Board

“COMESA is fast-tracking the implementation of a number of power generation and power interconnector projects, one of which is the Zambia-Tanzania-Kenya power interconnector project and also the Uganda-Rwanda, Rwanda-Burundi power interconnector project.” This is according to H.E.
